The PROMOFER, PRIMARY, and TEAPOTS projects are pleased to announce the co-organised workshop entitled “Applications for the Utilisation of Olive Pruning Residues and Residual Biomass within the Circular Bioeconomy Framework”, which will take place on Friday, 12 June 2026, in Heraklion, Crete.
The event will bring together researchers, industry representatives, local authorities, energy communities, and stakeholders from the agricultural and bioeconomy sectors to discuss innovative approaches for the sustainable management and valorisation of olive pruning residues and other biomass resources.
The workshop aims to highlight emerging technologies, successful initiatives, and collaborative efforts that support the transition towards a circular and sustainable bioeconomy, while creating new opportunities for rural development and green growth.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments from the following European research projects:
- PROMOFER – Boosting upstream and downstream processes to maximize yield of PHB production and 2,3-butanediol.
- PRIMARY – New business for farmers and cooperatives in rural areas by local upcycling solutions using underutilized agricultural feedstocks.
- TEAPOTS – Agriculture waste pyrolysis and thermo composting for renewable energy in sustainable agri-food sector.
The programme includes presentations from experts involved in these projects, followed by an interactive discussion session where participants will be able to exchange experiences, identify challenges, and explore future collaboration opportunities. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on lessons learned, future perspectives, and recommendations for strengthening biomass utilisation practices in the region.
We warmly invite farmers, cooperatives, researchers, public authorities, businesses, energy communities, and all interested stakeholders to participate in this event and contribute to the dialogue on advancing circular bioeconomy solutions for the agricultural sector.
