Organised by University College Dublin in collaboration with BIORBIC, the International Symposium on Biopolymers (ISBP 2026) is one of the leading global events dedicated to biopolymers, bioplastics, and circular bioeconomy innovation.

The conference will bring together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore the full biopolymer value chain – from biomass feedstocks and microbial production to recycling, biodegradation, and commercialisation. A major focus of the 2026 edition is the industrial scale-up of sustainable bioplastics and biodegradable polymers, including PHA and PLA materials.

Τhe programme includes sessions on polymer synthesis, recycling technologies, circular design, waste valorisation, and market deployment of bio-based materials. Dedicated industry sessions will address commercial applications, regulatory developments, and strategies for accelerating the transition away from fossil-based plastics. The symposium provides a high-level international platform for advancing sustainable biomaterials and strengthening collaboration across the global circular bioeconomy ecosystem.
