On 27 June 2026, PROMOFER was presented by HELLABIOM at the 8th International Summer School on Circular Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development, organised in partnership with the EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors at Perrotis College – American Farm School of Thessaloniki, Greece.

The presentation, titled “The Importance of Being Earnest: Building Robust Biomass Value Chains for Bio-based Materials in Fashion – A Case Study from the EU-funded PROMOFER Project,” highlighted the critical role of sustainable biomass sourcing, logistics and value-chain development in enabling successful bio-based innovation. Using PROMOFER as a case study, the session showcased the project’s innovative bio-based materials, HELLABIOM’s work in developing lignocellulosic biomass supply chains in Greece, and the concept of Green Biomass Points (Bio-hubs) as a scalable solution for biomass mobilisation.

To engage the audience, the presentation adopted a storytelling approach inspired by Oscar Wilde’s classic play The Importance of Being Earnest, drawing a parallel between the importance of “being earnest” and the need to take biomass value chains seriously as the foundation for sustainable, bio-based innovation.

The event brought together students, researchers, young professionals and stakeholders from across the bioeconomy sector, providing an excellent platform to present PROMOFER’s progress and foster discussions on the importance of resilient biomass value chains for the future of bio-based materials and circular fashion.

The presentation contributed to increasing the visibility of the PROMOFER project while highlighting the collaborative efforts of the consortium in advancing innovative solutions for a more sustainable and circular European fashion industry.
