PROMOFER was proudly featured at the recent workshop titled “Urban Environment & Wildfires”, held on Sunday, May 18th, at Mikis Theodorakis Park in Vrilissia, Athens.
The event was organized by OTAVOICE.gr in collaboration with the Municipality of Vrilissia and the intermunicipal associations SPAP, SPAY, and ASDA. It was conducted under the auspices of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE), the Region of Attica, the Institute of Local Government (ITA), and the Panhellenic Association of General Secretaries of Local Government “Kleisthenes.”
The workshop brought together experts, local government officials, and civil protection representatives to explore key topics across three thematic areas: (i) Climate Change & Its Impacts, (ii) Civil Protection & Local Government, and (iii) Volunteering – Training – Certification – Equipment.
PROMOFER was represented by Mr. Nikolaos Damatis, Dipl. Production & Management Engineer and Secretary General of the Board of Directors of HELLABIOM, PROMOFER partner. In his presentation, Mr. Damatis showcased PROMOFER’s innovative approach to the valorization of agricultural residual biomass—such as wheat straw and olive tree prunings—for the production of sustainable bioproducts.
His talk highlighted how the PROMOFER project contributes to climate resilience and green innovation, particularly in urban and peri-urban contexts, by transforming agricultural residues into valuable resources. This aligns closely with ongoing efforts in civil protection, environmental sustainability, and local development.
PROMOFER’s participation in the workshop reaffirmed the project’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges while promoting circular economy practices and strengthening local capacities in climate adaptation.
