HELLABIOM (PROMOFER partner), represented by Board Member Mr. Nikolaos Damatis, participated in Plastainability 2025 powered by Protergia: “The Plastics Industry between Circularity & Uncertainty”, held on 3 November 2025 at the National Centre of Scientific Research “Demokritos” in Athens, Greece.
The event was organised by the Association of Hellenic Plastics Industries (AHPI) and brought together key stakeholders from the plastics value chain, academia, policymakers, and the wider innovation ecosystem.
The conference explored the evolving landscape of the plastics industry in Greece and Europe, focusing on the challenges and opportunities emerging from the transition to a circular and climate-neutral economy. The overarching theme, “The Plastics Industry between Circularity & Uncertainty”, highlighted the sector’s efforts to remain sustainable, resilient, and competitive amid rapid regulatory changes and global environmental pressures.
With strong participation from industry executives, experts, and a notable presence of young scientists and students, the event fostered constructive dialogue on innovation, green transition strategies, circular materials, and the role of new technologies in shaping the future of plastics.
During the event, dedicated networking activities were conducted with members of the AHPI Board of Directors as well as participants of the AHPI Bioplastics Working Group. These discussions opened a positive pathway for potential collaboration between PROMOFER project partners and AHPI, particularly in areas related to bioplastics, fermentation-based solutions, and the integration of bio-based materials into circular manufacturing systems, promoting also the project survey on Bioplastics.
Such cooperation holds significant promise for reinforcing the PROMOFER project’s objectives by aligning scientific research, industrial needs, and stakeholder engagement within Greece’s dynamic plastics sector.
