HELLABIOM was invited to deliver a presentation within a panel of presenters entitled “Harnessing agricultural biomass: Transforming crop residues and agri-food by-products into sustainable energy & biochar”. This presentation was undertaken by Mr. Nikolaos Damatis, Dipl. Production & Management Engineer and Secretary General of BoD of HELLABIOM, who referred to various technological options that are available today for the valorization of underexploited biomass derived from agricultural residues. These technologies enable the production of bioenergy, biochar, and biomaterials, which can contribute to environmental benefits and climate mitigation.
The presentation highlighted the use of agricultural residues from wheat straw, rice straw, and olive tree pruning as biomass feedstocks which are mobilized and analyzed in the European PROMOFER project for bioplastics production.
